Headteacher’s Blog – 7th May 2021

Friday 7th May, 2021

I hope families were able to enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend, despite the awful weather! It has been good seeing the students get back to learning over the last two weeks. I have seen some great lessons and we are hoping to start bringing back some of our extra-curricular activities as we move towards the final half term of the year.

Covid Testing

Thank you to families for continuing to do your covid tests at home. A reminder to students to sign out new kits from Student Support when they need them. We have been asked to encourage families to also record test results on the NHS app or website.  This is because this data is key in the government understanding what is happening with the virus.  So far we have only had a few cases, with one case leading to students having to self-isolate as close contacts.  It is important we all continue to work together to keep our school community free of the virus.

House Competition –  Heroes Stamp Design

A reminder to enter the competition to design a stamp based on the heroes of the coronavirus pandemic, for information on how to enter students can see last week’s blog or ask their tutor for details.  Here are some early entries from Miss Tongue’s tutor group….

Closing date is 21st May 2021 – for further information please see:-

Mental health and well being

As we begin to return to our normal routines we are very conscious of the need to have a focus on the mental health and well-being of our young people.  We will have a regular piece to promote ways in which families can get support with this important part of our work with young people.  This week we have focus on nature, as we are able to get more and make the most of what nature has to offer.  See below for a screen shot of this excellent leaflet.  Please follow the link for the full leaflet.
