COURSE SUMMARY:
KEY STAGE 4 AND KEY STAGE 5
Business studies is offered as an option choice at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 and economics is an option at Key Stage 5.
Both subjects seek to equip students with an understanding of the business and financial world both within the UK and increasingly globally.
Business studies teaches traditional business theory in areas such as Marketing, Human Resources, Production and Finance with a particular emphasis Post 16 on the application of theory to real business situations and environments.
Economics focuses on traditional economic theory and seeks to explain resource allocation in the context of the UK and the global economy.
At Key Stage 4 we follow the OCR GCSE Business Studies syllabus.
Current Year 11 students will be assessed through a controlled assessment (25%), Business and People (25%) and Production, Finance and External Environment (50%).
Year 9 and Year 10 are studying the new OCR GCSE which will be assessed with grades 1-9
At Key Stage 5 we follow the OCR GCE Business Studies course. The course is assessed in 3 examinations at the end of A2; the local business environment, the UK business environment and the global business environment.
