Headteacher’s Blog – 11th June 2021

Friday 11th June, 2021

I hope you and your family enjoyed the sunshine over the half term break and have got your wall planners up ready for Euro 2020! As the sun has come out there is certainly a sense of summer at school, with after school activities coming back and students enjoying their social time in the warmer weather.

Lateral Flow Testing

You may have seen in the news that there remain concerns about the rise in the Delta variant of COVID (B. 1.617).  It is therefore essential that students continue to test twice a week and report using the school links that are emailed out every Thursday and Sunday.  If your child has symptoms please do not let them attend school and book a PCR test.  Please report a positive PCR test by contacting main reception at school.

A positive start to the new phases

Our new Phase Structure

Students have come back to school with a very positive attitude and stepping up to their new year group, with all the students having ‘rolled up’ to their 2012/22 academic year, so Year 7 are 8 and so on.  All students have had assemblies from their new Head of Phase and are receiving the support of their new phase team.

Mobile devices

I want to thank the whole school community for the exceptional way in which students have adapted to the new mobile devices policy.  As per the policy, phones, air pods, ear phones etc are literally not being seen or heard around school.  Students seem to have welcomed the change, with calmer social and movement times and more social interaction.  Teachers are reporting that students have been more focused and positive.

House Competition: Medicspot Face Mask Challenge:-

We had some great entries for the Medicspot Face Mask Challenge.  The competition run by presenter Joe Tasker was to design a face mask using a printed template.  Well done to everyone who took part.  Here are some of our students’ designs:-

Face Mask Challenge

After school sport is back!

Just in time for the Euros, it was amazing to have a walk around the field on Tuesday and see the sports clubs back on.  I watched some Year 8 (7) girls throw javelins, Year 9 (8) girls practising for the relay and the football trials for the Year 9 (8) boys football team; Mr Adams tells me we are going to have a great team this year!  I can’t wait for the fixtures to start back up and the teams to be playing again. Come on Team Coleshill!

I hope you have a good weekend.
