Higher Education

We ensure all of our students receive appropriate advice regarding their “next steps” during their time at The Coleshill School.

Our sixth formers face many challenges as they decide their future and the post-18 world is a constantly changing landscape with an often bewildering choice of options and opportunities. Latest figures available from UCAS tell us that there are over 37,000 undergraduate courses at over 370 providers in the UK.

We are fully committed to ensuring all of our students leave our school and sixth form with a place in higher education, employment or further training and all students will be given personalised one to one advice tailored to their needs and aspirations.

Approximately 80% of our sixth formers apply to higher education and they are very well served by a comprehensive Information, Advice and Guidance programme with regular contributions from our University partners.

All students are encouraged to attend university Open Days and all Year 12 students attend a higher education fair at one of the universities in Birmingham. We have developed strong connections with local universities as well as Clare College, Cambridge and Keble College, Oxford and encourage all our students to aim high in their choices

Students who do not wish to go to university are supported equally well. Our students have been successful in securing high quality traineeships with big names like KPMG, Barclays and Price Waterhouse Coopers and local apprenticeships are increasing in scope and number. We are supported by a specialist careers’ adviser, run events by apprenticeship providers and work with students to make first class applications.
