CURRICULUM INTENT

Our vision is for Religious Education at The Coleshill School is to nurture and grow our students into respectful, tolerant, and empathetic members of society. This is achieved through a ‘knowledge-engaged curriculum’, whereby there is a development of substantive and disciplinary knowledge, throughout the multi-disciplinary topics we cover (philosophy, social science, history and theology).

The framework equips students to be able to explore a variety of world perspectives, looking at beliefs, teachings, and practices of religions/traditions and how they affect someone’s life. As pupils progress, their growing knowledge about people’s beliefs should help them to deepen their understanding of the world in which we live.

The use of cognitive science is crucial in our subject, to underpin the development of schema and memory. It is the recognition and personal development of the students’ place in a multicultural society of the religious and secular (non-religious).
