Head of School and Student Leader (Media Team) SEPTEMBER BLOG 2022

Friday 7th October, 2022

We are thrilled to announce that over 200 students have applied for and are now a part of student leadership, here at The Coleshill School.  Each one (in the table below) has been linked to a member of the leadership team, to be able to contribute towards developing our school, together.

In assemblies, we have outlined that the staff are committed to ‘students lying at the heart of all we do’, whilst reiterating the importance of students taking responsibility for themselves, each other, and the community, whilst being an active part of school life.

Student Leadership (by Sadie & Peggy- Year 9)

Therefore, the new teams have been meeting to discuss their goals, ideas and planning future events.  These teams include Student Ambassador, Subject Ambassador, Hope Mentors, Media Team, Mental Health Team, Inclusion Diversity and Community Champions, Form Captain, Sport Leadership, Phase Leaders and Librarians.

Macmillan Cake Sale

On Friday 30th September 2022, scrumptious cakes were sold at our school to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.  Teachers and students brought in baked goods to be sold.  Students from all years lined up to buy these.  Students’ spirits have been lifted and everyone has recognised the importance of contributing to helping cancer research.  The Leadership Team helped out serving students and staff the cakes.  We all think that Miss Blunt and staff did an incredible job putting this together.  Teachers had a Bake Off, with Miss Raines in 3rd place with her rainbow cake, Miss Hunt in 2nd place with her chocolate cupcakes and Miss Kirby’s ice cream cupcakes in 1st place.

We raised an incredible £512 for Macmillan Cancer Support!  Thank you to everyone who made a donation.

We are incredibly proud of the contributions that the students have made so far, and we are looking forward to hearing more about their contributions as we move into October.

Open Evening 2022

On Thursday 6th October 2022, we had our first face-to-face open evening for 3 years and welcomed over 260 families to The Coleshill School.  It was a brilliant opportunity to share our philosophy ‘that students lie at the heart of all that we do’ and our ambition to empower the young people to take responsibility, lead change and be a key part of the school’s journey.  Our student leadership teams, and the 100 student helpers are just the beginning of how we are encouraging our students to make positive contributions as a Coleshill Learner and contribute positively to the life and culture of the school and its community.

We look forward to updating you about future events.

Kind Regards

Miss Brindley & the Media Team (Sadie, Peggy & Daisy)
