Reporting Student Absence
We would just like to say a big thank you to all our Parents/Carers for your support and co-operation in helping us to improve our school attendance, which requires a committed partnership. Without good attendance, students will not achieve their potential and benefit fully from the teaching and learning experiences the school provides.
Please keep up the good work ensuring your child arrives at school regularly and promptly, as irregular attendance and late arrival leads to educational disadvantage and puts young people at risk of limited life chances. The Coleshill School’s expectation for student attendance is a minimum 95%. Currently our percentage is running at 95.5% which is above national average, but we know we can do even better.
Polite Notice
Students who feel unwell during school hours must not contact parents/carers to collect them without first being seen and assessed by a qualified first aider.
Student Absence
It is important we have an accurate record of student absence. If your child is absent from school it is important that you notify the school by either telephoning the school direct on the first morning of absence or by choosing the absence option on the answer phone, please include your child’s name, tutor group and a brief reason for the absence.
We would also appreciate it if you could let us know daily or give an indication of the length of absence expected, especially if an absence continues into th efollowing week. It is vital to your child’s education to return to school as soon as possible.
We will contact you daily by text message if your child has not arrived at school. The aim of which to either prompt you to inform the school of your child’s absence/medical appointments or in turn for the school to inform you if your child has not arrived to lessons, the safety of your child is paramount to us, and will also ensure our records are accurate and up to date.
